Frequently Asked Questions
Services Offered
What counseling services do you offer?
At Vineyard Family Counseling, we offer a range of mental health services tailored to individuals navigating life’s challenges. This includes therapy for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, and more. We’re here to walk alongside you wherever you are in your journey.
Do you work with children or teens?
Yes! We work with clients across a variety of age groups. If you’re unsure whether we’re a good fit for your specific situation, just reach out — we’re happy to talk it through with you.
Do you offer couples or family counseling?
Yes! We offer couples counseling, marital counseling, premarital and family counseling for those wanting to strengthen their relationship or work through challenges together. Please note that these services are private pay and are not billed through insurance.
Insurance & Payment
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! We accept most major insurance plans. We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card to confirm your mental health benefits before your first appointment. Our team is also happy to help answer questions about coverage.
What if I don’t have insurance or my plan isn’t accepted?
We believe cost shouldn’t be a barrier to care. Please talk with us about self-pay rates and whether a sliding scale fee might be available for your situation.
When is payment due?
Payment is collected at the time of your session. We accept cash, check (made payable to “Vineyard Counseling LLC”), credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards.
Scheduling & Appointments
How do I schedule my first appointment?
Getting started is easy! You can request an appointment through our website at vineyardfamilycounseling.com or by creating a client profile. We’ll match you with a counselor who’s a good fit and find a time that works for your schedule.
How long are sessions?
Most sessions are 50–55 minutes. Your counselor may recommend a different format depending on your needs.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that at times you may need to cancel your appointment. There is no charge for any session canceled with at least 24-hour notice prior to your scheduled appointment. Sessions canceled with less than 24-hour notice will be assessed a late cancellation fee.

What to Expect in Sessions
What happens during my first session?
Your first session is really about getting to know each other. Your counselor will ask about what brought you in, your background, and what you’re hoping to work on. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with — we go at your pace.
How often will I need to come in?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially in the beginning. As you make progress, your counselor may suggest moving to every other week. Ultimately, the frequency is something you and your counselor will decide together.
How long will I be in counseling?
That really depends on you and your goals. Some people find a handful of sessions helpful; others prefer longer-term support. We’ll regularly check in on your progress and adjust as needed.
Telehealth / Online Counseling
Do you offer online/ telehealth therapy?
Yes! We offer telehealth sessions for clients age 13+ who prefer to meet from the comfort of their own home or who can’t make it in person. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person ones for many people.
What do I need for a telehealth session?
All you need is a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone — like a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Your counselor will send you a secure link before your session.
Is telehealth available in my state?
As long as your counselor is licensed to practice in your specific state, then you may see them online. Please contact us to confirm that your counselor is able to serve you in your location.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Is what I share in sessions confidential?
Absolutely. Everything you share with your counselor is kept strictly confidential. We take your privacy seriously and comply with all HIPAA regulations to protect your personal health information.
Are there any exceptions to confidentiality?
There are a few situations where we may be required by law to share information — for example, if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of suspected abuse or neglect. Your counselor will explain these limits during your first session so there are no surprises.
Crisis & Urgent Help
What if I’m in crisis and need help right away?
If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. You can also call 911 if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
Can I reach my counselor between sessions?
Your counselor may have limited availability between sessions. For urgent but non-emergency concerns, contact our office and we’ll do our best to connect you with support as soon as possible.
